Partnership DeKalb, A Brief History
Organized in 1999 and Still Going Strong
The Partnership was organized in 1999 in an effort to coordinate prevention activities in our area. The Partnership is a non-profit organization committed to the prevention of drug, tobacco, and alcohol abuse through the process of awareness, education, and action.
Liz Wear took the rains of the Partnership and has been a such a great asset to this orginazation. Whether its sitting down for hours at her desk working on new grants to keep the Partnership alive, or going out to any and everyone who will listen to her talk about drug Awareness, without Liz the Partnership would not be where it is today without her.
Nacole Baxley is our consultant, she was added to our staff during the summer of 2003. She volunteered to help with the Mentoring Program. She went on her own time during spring break from teaching to help coordinate this years Mentor DeKalb program. The board had to find someone to be the coordinator over Mentor DeKalb and went through countless numbers of resume's. Nacole was officially hired on in the position of Mentor Coordinator by a unanimous vote due to her qualifications and past history with the Partnership. We are expecting great things from Mentor DeKalb and Nacole in the near future.
Velma Brown is our Mentor Coordinator (started with Partnership in 2004).
The board is very impressed with the effort that has been put forth by these three women. Our new trainings are going great and signing up new Mentors every day. Where will the Partnership and Mentor DeKalb be tomorrow? Growing by leaps and bounds and the sky is the limit!!
